The 20-year-old will pull on the Bulldogs hoops this season after crossing over from Merbein at the end of last year.

Burns said he had thought about not playing this year before South Mildura coach Sam Boake called him.

“Going to a new club makes you excited and nervous to meet a few new blokes but it has all been going good so far,” Burns said.

“I was thinking about not playing and after last season finished I just started doing my own pre-season.

“I wanted to try to lose a bit of weight and get fit myself and see how I would feel about footy then.
